Barriobero Vermouth

Description
This was a surprise discovery when visiting the Familia Barriobero winery in Rioja. The family have been making Rioja here for over 100 years and we stock many of their really excellent wines.
This vermouth, however, came as quite a shock as it stood out amongst the vermouths I had been drinking during my travels in Spain.
Unlike many vermouths, it is smooth and soft. Being made with 15 different varieties of aromatic plants, makes it incredibly well seasoned. However, it does not have the bitterness that is common to many Spanish vermouths. It is sweet, but not overly so, and simply lazes luxuriantly on the tongue.
I love it just as is, or with ice, a slice of orange and possibly an olive. It must be noted that it also makes a fabulous Negroni with gin and Campari.
Definitely one for your drinks cabinet, it can be enjoyed all year round as a winter warmer or with an iced mixer in summer.
Recommend serving chilled between 8-12ºC.
